Welcome drink
Traditionally, the first ReD activity of the academic year is the welcome drink which is organised by the relays for the PhD students of their doctoral college with a financial input from the ReD. This year, the organisation of such an event is prohibited. Therefore, we encourage you to switch to a virtual style by organising a welcome drink online during which it is still possible to enjoy yourself and exchange with the PhD students of your college!
Need a little help for the animation? Here are a few ideas of fun online games to play as a group:

- Fishbowl (group guessing game, in EN)

Aside from this, here are a few suggestions to make sure each new PhD student feels welcomed and supported:
- A welcome email to start with (see FAQ box “How can I contact PhD students?”).
- Inform the PhD students about the useful tips and tricks to start a thesis (see FAQ box “How can I welcome the new PhD students?”).
- Organise an online meeting to allow the newbies to meet the other PhD students and eventually present their PhD projects in a few words.
- The ReD also designed a special PhD sweater that soon will be available to order.
