Being a PhD candidate at the University of Liège

In your Faculty, you can find several resource people with whom you can talk, and their respective roles:

• Supervisor: The person who supervises your PhD thesis.
• Thesis Committee: Your supervisor and minimum two other people (scientists?). The committee guide you in the preparation and the writing of your thesis. You must present a progress report to your committee at least once a year.
• Doctoral college: This group organizes and deals with the proceedings of the doctoral studies. It is charge of the admissions of the PhD candidates and their scientific monitoring. Find here the list of the presidents and vice-presidents of the doctoral colleges!
• PhD manager (in each Faculty): A resource person in each Faculty, to whom you can ask more specific questions in your college or Faculty (administrative).
• Colleagues, lab fellows, research unit (U)
• PhD representative in your college: A PhD student who you can directly talk to in your doctoral college. You can address technical as well as personal questions with this person, who links with the doctoral college. It is slightly different from the ReD relays, that links with the ReD.
